ShareTheMiracle is a simple initiative that helps individuals and organisations build community at Easter. Many have found it an easy way to start a conversation and build new friendships in their local community.
There are 3 easy steps:
- GIVE: Identify a person, or group of people and present them with an Easter Egg, or a gift of your choosing
- INVITE: Plan an event, big or small, to invite the recipients to.
- SHARE: Don’t keep it to yourself! Record the experience, from the giving of the gift to the event itself, and share through ShareTheMiracle’s social media sites.
Designed for Kindness:
Can you remember the last time you experienced an unprompted act of kindness? Moments like this tend to stick in the memory. And for good reason. Whether we’re the ones giving, receiving or even just witnessing kindness, it does something to us. It makes us come alive… feeling more human.
That’s because we’re all designed for kindness. It’s how we’re wired.
We’re also designed for relationship and community. And so it’s no coincidence that acts of kindness help to nurture just that. They have a profound effect; breaking down barriers and opening us up to one another.
This is at the heart of ShareTheMiracle.
In fact, it’s proven that kindness can have a positive psychological and physical effect on us – from increased cognitive performance to lower blood pressure.
How did ShareTheMiracle start?
It began in 2013 when Dan Usher had an idea to buy 100 chocolate eggs from a store and give them away in the local community. As he reached out he found that people opened up, conversation became easy and he caught a glimpse of how an act of kindness could be a catalyst to starting a conversation, building new relationships and ultimately, forming stronger communities. That day, ShareTheMiracle was born and last Easter, teams across the UK reached out to thousands of people. We were so thrilled to receive endorsements from The Lord Mayor and Great Ormond Street hospital as well as appearing on a number of BBC radio stations.
Who is it for?
ShareTheMiracle is for everyone. Whether you’re representing a school, a church or a business looking for ways to get involved in the local community, a local council, or you’re just someone who wants to connect with your neighbours, ShareTheMiracle makes it easy to reach out to someone this Easter.
Take a look at the ‘Get Involved’ section for ideas on how different groups could participate Schools, Business, Churches, Voluntary Groups, Local Councils, Neighbours. ShareTheMiracle is not limited to these groups – we recognise there are hundreds of different ways to use it to build your community.
When does it happen?
ShareTheMiracle is an Easter initiative. So, this year teams will tend to engage from mid March through to the Easter weekend.
